(“Rivus Beacon,” “we,” “us,” or “our“) collects, uses, discloses, and protects personal information when you visit https://rivusbeacon.com/ (the “Site“), contact us, apply to rent a vehicle, use our services, or otherwise interact with us. This Policy also describes your privacy rights and how you can exercise them.
Important: If you are renting or driving a vehicle from us (a “Driver” or “Renter“), please pay special attention to the sections titled Telematics & Vehicle Data, Payments, and State-Specific Rights.

2) Scope
This Policy applies to personal information we process about visitors to our Site, prospective and current customers (including Drivers/Renters), business partners, suppliers, and job applicants. It does not apply to third-party websites or services that we do not control.
3) Information we collect
We collect the categories of information listed below. Some of this information may be considered sensitive under certain laws (e.g., driver’s license data, precise geolocation). We collect information:
- Directly from you (e.g., forms, applications, email, phone).
- Automatically via cookies, pixels, and similar technologies.
- From third parties (e.g., payment processors, identity verification providers, telematics vendors, analytics/advertising providers, and—if you choose to connect or provide proof of status—rideshare platforms).
3.1 Identifiers & contact details
Name, email address, phone number, postal address, government-issued ID numbers (e.g., driver’s license), and unique identifiers (cookies, device IDs, user IDs).
3.2 Account, application & contractual data
Account credentials (hashed/salted where applicable), application responses, rental eligibility and status, rental agreements, signatures (including e-signatures), communications with us (e.g., chat, email), support tickets, and preferences.
3.3 Payment & billing information
Billing address and limited card/payment details necessary to initiate transactions. Card numbers are processed and stored by our third‑party payment processor (e.g., Stripe); we do not store full card numbers on our servers.
3.4 Telematics & vehicle data (Drivers/Renters)
If you rent or drive a vehicle from us, we (and our service providers) may collect:
- Location & trip data: GPS coordinates, routes, timestamps, start/stop, idle time.
- Driving behavior: speed, acceleration/braking, cornering, phone use while driving (if measured), seatbelt status (if measured).
- Vehicle health & diagnostics: fuel/battery level, odometer, DTC/OBD codes, engine alerts, maintenance indicators.
- Device & asset data: tracker/OBD device IDs, SIM/IMEI (if applicable).
- Camera data (if vehicles are fitted with dashcams): inward/outward video, audio, still images, incident clips. If we deploy cameras, we will provide additional notice and controls where required.
3.5 Internet/activity information
Pages viewed, links clicked, IP address, browser type, device type, referrers, session data, and analytics about how you use the Site.
3.6 Inferences
Profiles and inferences based on the information above to assess eligibility, reduce fraud, optimize pricing, promote safety, or personalize content.
4) How we use information (purposes)
We use personal information to:
- Provide, operate, and improve the Site and our services.
- Create and manage accounts; process applications; verify identity or eligibility; enter into and perform rental agreements.
- Process payments, billing, collections, refunds, and chargebacks.
- Operate telematics, safety, and maintenance programs (e.g., track vehicles, schedule maintenance, investigate incidents, enforce terms, recover assets).
- Communicate with you (service messages, updates, marketing you can opt out of at any time).
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, misuse, or illegal activity; ensure safety and compliance.
- Comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
- Conduct analytics, research, and product development.
- Personalize and market our services, including interest‑based advertising (where permitted).
5) Cookies, analytics & advertising
We (and our partners) use cookies, pixels, SDKs, and similar technologies to run the Site, measure performance, and deliver advertising. You can manage preferences via your browser settings and (if implemented) our Cookie Preferences tool. Blocking cookies may impact your experience. Where required, we will obtain your consent before setting non‑essential cookies.
- Analytics: We may use analytics tools to understand usage and improve the Site.

6) Payments
Payments are processed by third‑party payment processors (e.g., Stripe). They receive personal information necessary to process your payment and are responsible for their own privacy practices. We do not store full card numbers.
7) Telematics & vehicle safety programs (Drivers/Renters)
We use telematics and (if installed) cameras to promote safety, enforce rental terms, locate vehicles, schedule maintenance, and investigate accidents or suspected misuse. We may combine telematics with other data (e.g., incident reports) for these purposes. Where required, we will obtain consent and/or provide appropriate disclosures before collecting precise location or camera data.
8) How we disclose information
We may disclose personal information to:
- Service providers & vendors acting on our behalf (e.g., hosting, analytics, advertising, customer support, email/SMS delivery, identity verification, e‑signature, telematics, payment processing, collections, insurance, and professional advisors). These parties are contractually obligated to use the data only to provide services to us.
- Business partners (e.g., fleet/vehicle partners, financing/insurance partners) in connection with providing the services.
- Advertising/analytics partners for interest‑based advertising and measurement (you can opt out—see Your privacy choices below).
- Law enforcement, regulators, and third parties when we believe disclosure is necessary to comply with law, enforce our agreements, protect our rights, safety, users, or the public, or detect/prevent fraud or security issues.
- Corporate transactions: In connection with, or during negotiations of, a merger, sale of assets, financing, or acquisition of all or a portion of our business.
We do not disclose personal information to third parties for their own direct marketing without your consent.
9) “Sale” or “sharing” of personal information
Some states (e.g., California) define a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information broadly, including some analytics/advertising uses and certain data licensing arrangements. We may engage in activities that could be considered a sale or sharing.

10) Your privacy choices & rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to:

- Correct inaccurate personal information.
- Delete personal information, subject to legal exceptions.
- Opt out of sale/sharing and targeted advertising.
- Limit the use and disclosure of sensitive personal information (where applicable).

11) California & other U.S. state disclosures
California (CPRA)
- Notice at collection: We collect the categories described in Section 3 for the purposes in Section 4. We retain information as described in Section 12.
- Sale/Share: See Section 9 for opt‑out rights.
- Sensitive personal information: We use SPI (e.g., driver’s license number, precise geolocation for telematics) only as reasonably necessary to provide the services, ensure safety, and comply with law; you may have the right to limit certain uses.
Texas (TDPSA) & other state laws (e.g., VA, CO, CT, UT, OR, IA, DE, MT, etc.)
Residents of these states may have similar rights to access, correct, delete, and opt out of targeted advertising/sale. Use the methods in Section 10 to exercise your rights. We do not process sensitive data about you for purposes that require consent without obtaining it where required by law.
12) Retention
We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes outlined in this Policy, including to meet legal, accounting, or reporting requirements, resolve disputes, and enforce agreements. Typical retention periods include, for example:
- Account, contract & billing records: up to 7 years after account closure or final transaction.
- Telematics & trip data: 12–24 months (longer if required for safety, insurance, dispute resolution, or asset recovery).
- Application/eligibility records: up to 5 years (or as required by law).
We may anonymize/de‑identify data and retain it for analytics and safety research.
13) Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information. No security method is perfect; we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we learn of a breach affecting your information, we will notify you consistent with applicable law.
14) Children’s privacy
Our services are not directed to individuals under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us to request deletion.
15) International transfers
We are based in the United States. If you access the Site or services from outside the U.S., your information may be transferred to, stored, and processed in the U.S. and other countries, which may have different data protection laws than your country.
16) Third‑party links & services
The Site may contain links to third‑party websites, services, or apps. Their privacy practices are governed by their own policies; we are not responsible for those practices. Review their policies before providing personal information.

We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top indicates when changes were made. Material changes will be posted on the Site and, where required, we will notify you by email or another method.
